Mini-Mimi Camp 2015 Day #6

Today, Field Day, included opening and closing ceremonies, and was the official last day of Mini-Mimi Camp.  In between field-day events, campers enjoyed potato harvesting (they had planted these potatoes in the Spring!), Action Jackson poster painting, puzzles, Corn Hole, a Suncatcher craft, and selfie photography.

Mini-Mimi Camp 2015 Day #5

Kings Dominion!  Goal departure time of 8:00am was nearly met successfully, and no one threw up in the car as the route was carefully selected to minimize carsickness.  Everyone arrived back in the valley exhausted but otherwise well.  It was a scorcher at 95 degrees.  No rain except for a quick shower after everyone got dressed back in street clothes from a jaunt at Soak City.

Today the counselors were prepping for Kings Dominion, but also entertaining the campers with a trip to Luray to feed the ducks and visit Flotzie’s, a beading craft, and plenty of pool / Jeep time on another hot day in the valley.

Matthew was put in charge of setting up the tripod and figuring out how to set a timer for a family photo while some of us took a trip to Luray to visit Father Chris.  Camp Counselor Matthew did a great job setting the stage, but one participant was not cooperative (Zaiah-Zaiah was in dire need of a nap after a full day of intense play).  We posed the picture to re-enact the Duck family photo from summer of 2012, including leaving a gap for Chi (currently station in China with the Peace Corps) to Photoshop-in later.

Mini-Mimi Camp 2015 Day #1

Camp Counselor MK guest blogging for Mini-Mimi Camp 2015:

Most campers have arrived for Mini-Mimi Camp.  Mimi has been advised that starting her blog for this summer is critical to ensure documentation of camps before the campers enter college!

Friday was officially Day 1.  Flanders arrived to find camp in progress.  Mimi Camp Activity #1:  Ice cream making on the porch.

Camp Counselor Matthew nearly burned the house down with the use of Pop-Pop’s grill.  It was mighty smoky from years of grease build-up.

Day One at Mini-Mimi Camp 2014

Mini-Mimi Camp began on Saturday, June 7th. Cousins and their parents gathered in the Valley for a week of fun, food and family and lots of hugs. Mimi took hundreds of pictures….yes, SEVERAL hundred….but will only include a select few here for your viewing enjoyment.

Saturday’s activities included a water fight with Uncle Chi and the traditional campfire with questionable S’more preparation. Uncle Matthew is the self-proclaimed S’more expert, but judging from his picture, he has his own doubts.
